On the other hand, the hot cut border lies flat against the garment, offering a sharp and distinct style. This is ideal for custom shaped patches, decreasing the visual separation between the patch and the garment. 

Finally, it's time to determine how you want to attach your custom patch. You have plenty of options here, but they depend on a few factors. Do you need permanently attached patches? Do you want to move patches among different garments? 

The most popular attachment style is the classic sew-on patch. Sew-on patches have no adhesive or other means of attachment to the garment. Other methods include iron-on backings, which use a heat-sensitive adhesive on a twill backing. 

The final option is Velcro® patches. These are great for when you want to move patches from garment to garment. The patch can be easily attached or removed as needed, making them ideal for military morale or tactical patches.
